Recording Techniques

The drum loops were created using the 'Rebirth RB338' software. Various loops were devised around a common drum sequence. These were then imported into Session 8 as wave files.

All the acoustic guitars were recorded with an ATM 27HE Audio Technica Dynamic Cardiod microphone. A standard model 'Encore' left-handed electro-acoustic was used to play the parts.

A stereo mix of the Session 8 tracks was then recorded onto the first two tracks of an ADAT tape.

All the vocals were recorded using an ATM27HE Audio Technica Dyadic Hyper Cardiod microphone. A pop-shield was utilised to prevent unwanted noises going to tape.

Lyrics

A tower block story.
Three kids and their mum trapped in four walls.
They drive her insane,
but she needs them, can't take that away.

She picks up her social,
and heads down her local for a drink.
She loves being single,
but it make her think, there must be more than this.

She don't know why.
So she just gets high.
No she don't know why.
She sings her lullaby.

He lives on the third floor.
He watches her night and day.
He's infatuated with her,
but doesn't know what to say.

He'd buy her the world,
so she'd never want for more,
but he knows that he couldn't though he loves her,
he needs just one last score.

He don't know why.
so he just gets high.
No he don't know why.
He sings his lullaby.

He don't know why.
so he just gets high.
No he don't know why.
He sings his lullaby.

That's the way it goes.
Who knows if they'll make it.
Who knows if they'll make it.
And that's the way it goes.
Who knows if they'll make it.
Who knows if they'll make it.

They don't know why.
so they just get high.
no they don't know why.
They sing their lullaby.

They don't know why.
so they just get high.
no they don't know why.
They sing their lullaby.
They sing their lullaby.
They sing their lullaby.
High-rise lullaby.
